Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question?

Find the answer to some of our most commonly asked (and answered) questions.

Do I have to audition to join ?

Auditions are not necessary. We ask that you have some experience singing, can hold a tune, and have a willingness to learn.

Can I try out the choir to see if it's for me?

We encourage those that are contemplating joining the choir for the first time  attend one of our first three rehearsals of the season. At that time, you will "sign out" a music folder. You can decide whether the choir (and season) are right for you at that time.

I have had to drop out of the choir. How do I get a refund?

You may request your Music Deposit back once your music folder has been returned in good condition with all music erased.

If you are dropping out of the choir in the first four weeks of a season, you may also request your registration fee for the season back.

Do I have to be a member of Bethel church to be in the choir?

Our choir has no religious affiliation. Bethel Church graciously allows us to rent their space for practices. All are welcome!

I can't attend practices consistently. How many practices can I miss?

Members may miss up to three practices a season. If you are anticipating missing more, please speak directly with our Choral Conductor.

I am under 19 and want to join the choir. Is there any financial assistance available to me?

The QCity Singers developed a youth bursary several years ago. This bursary covers the registration fee for the season. There is a short application process where you state your desire to join the choir and paperwork must be filled out by your legal guardian.

The bursary does not cover your Music Deposit, which up on request at the end of the season, will be returned to you if your music folder and music are returned in good condition.
